When it comes to our kids, there’s a lot to be afraid of these days….drugs, gangs, danger, kidnapping, failing in school, rejection…..it’s easy to have fear for your children.
But if you’re a Christian, remember that you are not of this world….we have inside information – INSIDE THE BIBLE.
You don't want to surround your kids with fear and doubt. Instead you want to surround them with faith and the protection of God.
You don't have to be afraid! God promises protection and victory for us, and for our children. (more)....
In Luke 10:19 Jesus said, “Behold I give YOU power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy and NOTHING shall by any means hurt you.” Psalm 91:10 says no evil shall befall us. Proverbs 18:10 says the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are SAFE.
According to God’s Word, you and your children are safe!
One of my favorite parenting stories in the Bible is about a Hebrew mother named Jochabed (Exodus 2). Her baby boy, Moses, was born in a time when the king was having every Hebrew baby boy killed. Understandably, she hid Moses, until she couldn’t hide him anymore. To save him, she did something amazing….she put that precious baby boy in a basket, and sent it down river.
Stop to think for a moment about putting your baby in a basket, in a river, in a country where they’re killing babies that look just like her baby. Amazing! And you know what happened -- down river a bit, the king’s daughter picked Moses up. And she said, “Oh look, one of those Hebrew babies like my father is killing. Let’s keep him!” And Moses grows up in the lap of luxury at the king’s palace.
I tell you, only God could come up with a plan like that. I’m amazed every time I read it! And if Jochabed (a woman who wasn’t born again, and didn’t have the spirit of God in her heart like you and I) could send her baby out into the world with faith in God’s protection, you and I can send our children out into the world with faith. And we can see miracles happen to them, just as she did.
This topic of fear is a huge subject, and there’s not enough space here to cover it all, but I just want to encourage you to keep your child surrounded with faith, not with fear. Meditate God’s Word about His protection, until it becomes more real to you than fear. You and your children are SAFE!
