You Need to Rest

One day I was in line at the post office when a woman came in who knew someone else in line, and they started up a conversation.

The newcomer said, “How are you?” and her friend answered, “Oh we’re so busy”…and proceeded to list all her family’s activities. Then the other agreed and listed her family’s busy activities.

And I thought to myself — has busy-ness become our badge of validity?  It’s what we all have in common, and what we all love to tell each other, but is this what makes us valuable or important — how busy we are?  Sometimes, I think we’re too busy.  Am I the only one?

Have You Been Hurt?

I’ll bet your answer to that question is “yes.” If you’ve been alive longer than about a year, chances are good that you’ve been hurt in some way.

And while we could take a vote of everyone reading this letter and they might all raise their hands and say, “Yes! It’s terrible what happened to you!” that vote wouldn’t do you any good.

The only way I know of to get free of the hurt that’s been afflicted on you and go on to live a life of freedom is — forgiveness.

Think about it — forgiveness is how God’s relationship started with YOU (Col. 2:13). It’s so powerful that it made you a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).

It’s how He starts things over again..Feel like you need a do-over in your life? Forgive. It’s that powerful.

When You Disagree with Your Leader

Chances are probably good that you’ve disagreed with your leader at one time or another – whether it’s your family leader, your workplace leader, your church or spiritual leader, your state or country leader. Right?

No matter how much you love, admire, or want to follow someone (or you don’t!) you are never going to agree 100% with another human being. Disagreements are inevitable.

So what should we do when we disagree with our leader, especially our spiritual leader?
