"We can’t change anything about someone else (or what has happened), but we can choose to turn them over to God and walk forward in freedom in our own lives by forgiving." — Karen Jensen

We live in a world where it’s easy to let the pressures of life get to us and weigh us down.

But God doesn’t want you to worry or carry any cares of this world on your shoulders!  He wants you to live care-free.  He cares about you!

You Can Trust Him

You have probably read the verse in 1 Peter 5:7 that says, “Cast all your cares on him, for he cares for you.”  But have you ever had trouble casting your cares?   Have you ever cast a care on Him, only to find yourself weighed down by it again within minutes or hours?

We’ve all done it, but I hate to say it — that’s doubt. (Now don’t shoot me, I hope to give you some faith for it today!).

It takes faith to cast a care!  But faith for casting a care comes when we understand how much God cares for us.  I think sometimes the reason we can’t keep a care cast over onto Him is because we’re not sure He’ll do anything about it, or that He’s even listening.  But He is, and He will!

The Phillips translation of 1 Peter 5:7 says we can cast all our cares or worries on Him for “we are His personal concern.”  Think of that….YOU are God’s personal concern!  To me, that makes a difference when I’m casting my care.  It means He’s so concerned about me, I know He’s attentive to my concerns and my needs. Just like He is to yours.

Let me say it this way: since you’re His personal concern, you can trust Him to care about your care, and take care of it!

His Tender Loving Care

God has given us an instruction to cast our care on Him….but it’s up to us to take the spiritual step to do it.  Don’t settle for a life of worry and anxiety!  Jesus paid a terrible price for you to live care-free.  Be willing to cast your cares, and expect God to do something about the situation.

When I cast a care on God, I like to say it this way, “Father, I cast this concern, this worry, this anxiety over into your tender loving care.“  That makes it sound more personal (since you’re His personal concern).

God takes a very personal interest in everything that concerns you.  Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me,” and Matthew 10:30 says, “The very hairs on your head are numbered.”  These verse prove that He’s paying attention!  He knows how to take care of things for you, so have faith!

Philippians 4:6,7 in the Amplified tells us what to do in order to have God’s peace when we’re feeling heavy: “Don’t fret or have any anxiety about anything.”  Anything! Why?  Because He can take care of it, when you give it to Him and refuse to worry anymore.

So I encourage you to take the step and cast your worries and concerns over into God’s tender loving care.  Refuse to worry or doubt any more!  Believe He’s taking care of it. Then when He does, tell everyone the story and give Him all the glory!
